Size Guide
A good fit starts with a few numbers. This page shows how to find your size, how to measure, and what to do if the fit is not right.
Finding your size
- Start with your usual size. Our jackets and coats come in sizes XS to XXXL. On a few listings the two largest sizes appear as 2XL and 3XL, and every product page shows the sizes available for that piece.
- Check it against the chart. Measure a jacket you own that fits you well and compare it with the chart below.
- Read the product description. Fit varies by style. Many descriptions say how a piece is cut, for example slim, relaxed or oversized.
The size chart
This is a general chart of standard US outerwear sizes, in inches. It is not measured from each individual piece, and fit varies by style, so use it as a guide alongside the size you usually wear.
The figures describe the jacket, not your body. A jacket that fits will measure more around the chest than you do, which leaves room to move and to layer.
| Size | Chest | Sleeve | Back length |
|---|---|---|---|
| XS | 40 | 32.5 | 27 |
| S | 42 | 33 | 27.5 |
| M | 44 | 33.5 | 28 |
| L | 46 | 34 | 28.75 |
| XL | 48.5 | 34.5 | 29.5 |
| XXL | 51 | 35 | 30.25 |
| XXXL | 53.5 | 35.5 | 31 |
What each measurement means
- Chest: the jacket all the way around at the chest, just below the arms.
- Sleeve: from the center of the back collar, across the shoulder, down to the end of the cuff.
- Back length: from the base of the collar at the back, straight down to the hem.
Back length changes the most from style to style. A bomber is cut much shorter than an overcoat or a parka, so choose your size by chest and sleeve, and treat back length as a rough guide.
Measure a jacket you own
This is the quickest way to check a size.
- Pick a jacket that fits you the way you like, ideally in a similar style to the one you are looking at.
- Close it and lay it flat on a table, front facing up. Smooth out any creases.
- Chest: measure straight across from one armpit to the other, then double the number.
- Sleeve: turn the jacket over. Measure from the center of the back collar to the shoulder seam, then from the shoulder seam to the end of the cuff, and add the two together.
- Back length: with the jacket still face down, measure from the base of the collar straight down to the hem.
- Find the row in the chart closest to your chest and sleeve numbers.
How to measure yourself
No jacket handy? Measure yourself instead. Use a soft tape measure, wear a thin shirt, and stand relaxed. A second pair of hands makes it easier.
- Chest: around the fullest part of your chest, under your arms and across your shoulder blades. Keep the tape level and snug, not tight.
- Sleeve: with your arm relaxed and slightly bent, from the center back of your neck, across your shoulder and down to your wrist bone.
Your chest measurement will be smaller than the chest figures in the chart. That is expected, because the chart describes the jacket. Your sleeve measurement compares more directly with the sleeve column.
Between sizes
Size up. A little extra room is easier to live with in a coat than a tight fit across the shoulders.
Layering
If you plan to wear a thick knit or a hoodie underneath, consider going up one size. Thin layers, such as a shirt or a light sweater, usually sit fine under your normal size.
Gloves
Our gloves come in XS, S, M, L and XL. There is no separate glove chart, so start with the glove size you usually wear. If you are between two sizes, take the larger one.
If the fit is not right
You have 50 days from delivery to start a return or an exchange. Returns need to come back unworn, unwashed and in new condition, with the tags attached and in the original packaging.
So try your piece on indoors, keep the tags on and the packaging safe until you are sure, and keep it clear of cologne and deodorant.
Prefer a different size? Say so in your return email and we will set up the exchange. You cover the return postage, and there are no restocking fees. See Returns & Exchanges for how it works.
Still unsure?
